Carara National Park

Carara National Park is transformed into a Paradise for bird lovers, of the 900 confirmed species that exist in Costa Rica, Carara and its surroundings can be found 431 of them. We can observe an amazing display of birds, both early in the morning tomorrow, as in the afternoon since it is located in a transition zone between the dry forest of the north and the humid forest of the south, presenting characteristics of both.
Carara National Park is an oasis of life
Carara is the best representation of the rainforest in the Central Pacific of Costa Rica,represents more than 80% of the country’s mammals, it is not uncommon to see, coatis, peccaries, sloths, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys, spider monkeys, rare wild cats, hundreds of species of butterflies and red-eyed frogs.
Among the resident species we can observe Great Curassow, Slaty-tailed Trogon, Gray-chested Dove, Band- tailed Barbthroat, Crowned Woodnymph, Blue-throated Goldentail Montezuma Oropendola, Turquoise- browed Motmot, Least Sandpiper, White Hawk, Yellow-throated Toucan, and migratory birds such as Summer Tanager and Western Tanager.
Our experienced guides will help you identify the different species by their shapes and colors, as well as the recognition of their calls. On this half day tour they will be able to walk the different trails that the park offers including the universal access path. The beautiful songs that make the yiguirro, (Clay colored Thrush) our national bird. Come with us, learn about our birds and be part of this wonderful experience.
